Bush, (born June 12, 1924, Milton, Mass., U.S.—died Nov. 30, 2018, Houston, Texas), 41st president of the U.S. (1989-93).Bush was the son of Prescott Bush, an investment banker and U.S. senator from Connecticut. He served in World War II as a torpedo bomber pilot on aircraft carriers in the Pacific, flying some 58 combat missions; he was shot down by the Japanese in 1944.
